Update ...

Here is an update to what has happened to me. Please excuse my short method. I abbreviated everything I could...

Woke up Saturday with swelled left side of face. Nose hurt. Blood once in mucus. Eye doesn't work right.. Wouldn't follow my right eye. Painful. Called Doc Shreiner's office got answering svc. Won't be in till Monday. Sunday was worse. Took several Motrins, doubled up on my anti-inflammation Ketoprofen and finally went on Percodan. Did not sleep a wink.

Saw Doc Shreiner @ 10am. Examined and is puzzled but could be occipital infection. Left eye muscles won't work right. Referred me to eye specialist in Findlay. Hard to drive, so an uncle will take me there @12:30 for 1:00pm appt. Swelling is very bad and my sinuses are trying to break out of my face. Made arrangements for cats in case of hospital.

Went to the eye specialist @1:00 Monday. Uncle Jim drove me. 25 miles. Spectrum Eye Care diilated me and Dr. Orr examined. Could be any one of 25 maladies. Many tests. Scheduled for MRI. Prescription for heavy-duty antibiotic (Augmentin 875mg-125mg) first. Appt. for 8 AM Wednesday for steroids. Uncle Jim drove me home.

Got home. Took first huge antibiotic pill. Hospital in Findlay called me. Moved my MRI up to 5:30. I had to drive there 25 miles with my eyes dilated! (Uncle Jim can't drive after dark.) Like driving in a dark snowstorm! Checked in. They took 10 tubes of blood. Medicare wouldn't pay for two of them ($65 - gotta fund the f**king war, you know!!!) but I said I would be responsible and pay it. Then I got the MRI.

45 noisy minutes in MRI tube. I am very claustrophobic. So I closed eyes and stayed stiff. Put clothes back on and drove home in dark with eyes still dilated. Oncoming car lights looked like 4th of July sparklers! No deer on the road, thankfully.

Update: So tomorrow at 8 AM I will be back there and maybe find out what is going on, vis-a-vis the MRI results. Then he will give me steroids. HEY! I won't ever make the Hall of Fame! LOL. Anyway, it's worse this morning. I slept from 9 PM to 8 AM. Here are pics of the eye, before and now.

The eye specialist called today (Tuesday) at 5. My MRI showed that it was infection, maybe staph-, and it is blocking the sinus areas around my left eye from draining. It spread to facial areas in the periphery of my eye. He said we will continue the heavy duty antibiotic (Augmentin 875mg-125mg) for a longer period before resorting to steroids, if we have to go that far. Tomorrow's appointment is still on. My skull is trying to bust out of my face. I need a stiff Scotch but with all these antibiotics I'm dry for the duration.

You are a better man than I--I can not/WON'T take an MRI--not able to deal with it.
How the infection goes away quickly.
Not being funny here but why not try to draw something and see how it turns out?

Jon, nine Motrin? That can't be any worse for your liver than a good slug of Scotch to help dull the pain and help you sleep. Just looking at the picture makes my face hurt.

It looks and sounds so painful. Staph infections are horrible things, can slumber in your body and pop out years down the road. Hope the antibiotics knock it down so you can get some rest soon.

I just hope that Motrin isn't addictive. I took 9 today so far.

The pain is the worse part, that and no appetite. It feels like a constant ice cream headache. Really awful.

Sinuses?

So sorry you have this problem. At least doctors are doing something specific. But you should have someone driving you all the time, not just sometimes. Does Uncle Jim know anyone who could do it when he can't? Don't be Superman. Waiting for next installment. Thinking healing thoughts.

I was just out on the porch and a huge amount of mucus hit my throat. It may mean my sinuses are going to drain! That's good!
