Kundera is one of my top authors. I read him when he first went to Paris from his homeland after '68. His earlier work there had translation problems,so he learned French and began writing in it instead of his native Czech. There was a good motion picture made of his THE UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING. Slowness was written entirely in French and is a later work.

We have been enjoying some strings of 50s and 60s here in northern Ohio, separated by one or two-day drops to right around freezing. So far we have only experienced about two inches of snow- total - for the whole season. This kind of winter is startling everyone.
You are right to feel that way. There are many of my friends, family and acquaintances who would willingly give up their rights to re-establish the kind of prejudices and segregation that we had in the 1940s and 50s. It is ingrained in their DNA. And so it is beginning. Stay bravely on your own two feet. We will prevail.
The ornaments are mostly unbreakable,but they have tested the limits, believe me. Rinpoche is a gentle giant and never breaks anything. He simply throws up on it.
