I am giving this to my friends there who had a catastrophic kitchen fire in late May and are rushing to reopen it later this month.

This was one of the most difficult paintings I've ever done. So many long straight lines and repetitive parallel lines! It took about four weeks, the last two constantly working on it, day and night.

I gave it a varnish last night and it pops! Now I'll let that dry a couple days and put it in the frame. At least beginning today I can start catching up on all those things I put off because of the painting.

Lovely! It's such a change from your usual, and I'm glad you didn't go artsy and try to make it like Hopper's diner. I was even seeing it with cats waiting on the tables.

great rendering -- free meals for the rest of your natural life, yes? Youi are saying that straight lines, etc., are harder than nature scenes? Who knew.

Straight lines are the most difficult. The longer, the more so.

They should appreciate the hell out of this! Make sure any acknowledgements or urls are attached to the picture too...

My old high school used to sell calendars of drawings of local buildings done by the students. It became an important thing for the municipality, marking history like that.
