Very Depressing Decisions ...

Bunjii is over the top now. While his incisions have healed and he only needs to go back for the removal of his third or fourth set of stitches, he has taken to urinating and defecating on the carpets, the rugs or wherever he decides. This morning as I splashed water on my face in the bath sink, he climbed into the same sink and began to pee.

I realize part of it may be the trauma of his dealings with another cat that terrorizes him, and part may be due to the effects of his tumor (who knows if he has more inside?), but I can't deal with this anymore.

I'm going to ask the vet if he can humanely put him down.

I have never done this before. Oh, I've had to have cats put down, many times, but they were old and dying anyway.

I just can't deal with it.

............

Onward.

My cat started doing this also. It turned out he had diabetes. Deciding what to do was one of the hardest decisions I had to make.

After all that surgery and lying around recovering he may have developed a urinary stone. He really got your attention with the sink deal!

Can you hold off a week to see if Bunji comes around? Lots of stress to deal with!
Or,
As Elfie commented, it could be a urinary infection too. Mary and I put up with our Simba peeing everywhere for about a month. When she finally peed on our bed, that was it! We were bound and determined to get rid of the cat. Then, somebody suggested that the cat may have a urinary infection. So Mary took her to the vet. Sure enough - urinary infection. A couple of sulfur pills, and Simba has been a perfect little lady ever since.

Oh, Jon, give him another chance. He trusts you or he wouldn't be
peeing in front of you. Exhaust all possibilities. Check cat
behavior problems on line, ask your vet. And also check out
whether he has a urinary infection. Death is not a solution.

I agree that he could have a urinary tract infection, very common in male cats. However, I've never heard of one peeing in the sink as a result of such a malady. Tough call, buddy.

I'm so sorry Jon!! Did the Vet say this could happen? Gosh, I don't know what to say other than you all are in my thoughts and prayers!!

I am so sorry. But first, please check to see if he has a urinary tract infection, Jon. That can cause such behavior. Such infections can cause a huge amount a stress for the cat, which aggravates the behavior. And of course it is stressful for you. But it does sound like a kidney problem, which can be quite serious. Also, how long ago did he have anesthesia? Cats can get loopy after that for a while. I encourage you to consider these things.

I know firsthand how difficult this is. I have had to put two beloved cats down, both were dying, a very difficult emotional experience, but it can be done lovingly. I'm not sure how I would get there, but I would be willing to accompany you for support. You have my warmest care and sympathy.

I know how hard this decision is. Maybe he has an urinay track infection Jon...which is causing this...we had a cat who would do this..and that was her problem. Whatever you decide we understand *hugs tight*

This must have been such a difficult decision to make. It definitely sounds like a reaction to some sort of trauma.
