Base Ball ...

1. The American Pastime has become a game of musical chairs.

2. My team alone traded away 4 starting players in 3 days, one during a game he was playing in!

3. I understand this because the Indians are reducing payroll and doing cash deals with teams that are going to be in the playoffs.

4. Meanwhile, the fans are staying away from the stadium because their team is going to lose even more games, and those who stay away and call themselves fans aren't really fans anyway, like me, who has gone to many games knowing the team would probably lose. I will always buy tickets and hot dogs because I love the smell of mown grass, Bertrand's stadium mustard and the sound of that stupid organ.

5. Football camp began today.

End of story.

At least you unloaded Kerry Wood. Now if the Cubs could only get rid of "Big Z" (and about 20 others).

I am still waiting to hear what Sam Bradford is being offered from the NFL.

I was a fan when it was still exciting. Too bad the game has been turned into a money machine and little else.

Baseball. Can just about define it and do not have the patience to watch it on TV.

I keep hearing that song in my head, "MONEY!...." But that is the name of the game now. Moneyball. Show me the money. The best hitter the Tribe ever had never made more than $36,000 a year in his career (1957-1959)! Now, a mediocre second-year infielder makes two million. A seasoned veteran DH who can't hit anymore and NEVER plays a position on defense (Travis Hafner) is making five times that. Thankfully, after this season he is gone!
