Outrunning Corona

I ran into Jeri today. Not literally, but in a sense. I was out running to outrun the Corona virus (hehe, see what I did there) and I happened upon Jeri walking Jose. I always run that route and wonder if I'll see her. She's an amazing person. I admire her spunk and aspire to the same longevity. She had on the neatest rose colored glasses and little Jose was cavorting around ready to resume the walk. We spoke and I was glad for the 30 seconds of rest. It's been so cool meeting some of the MyBloggers along the way and I never imagined living this close to one you. If I ever make it to Canada, I'd like to take Marg and Mr. Marg out to eat.

Today I was able to run 4 miles, up from my customary 3 miles. I'm secretly harboring dreams of repeating the half marathon which was postponed until October because of Corona virus.

Speaking of COVID-19, I saw a Facebook post of a sign on a hotel pool gate which read, "Due to Carnivorous, the pool will be closed this season" or something to that effect. I guess they have alligators?? Ha!

Also speaking of COVID-19, my wife and I are being tested again at 10:30 this morning. Since Friday she's complained that she cannot smell or taste anything. If she or I test positive, we have to self-quarantine for 2 weeks. Our previous tests came back negative. It's so frustrating, because we had already suspended church services for two weeks and were all ready to go back to normal schedule. Just to be safe, we all stayed home yesterday and the deacons took care of things. Fortunately, all of our deacons are also ministers, so they won't miss me much. Through the wonders of technology, we were able to enjoy the services from home, but it's never the same.

Jennifer and I keep daydreaming of the mountains of New Mexico, but with the recent church merger and our recent trip to San Antonio, it's just one of those things we can't do right now. It's so much cooler there and we've been having heat indices above 100 for days now.

Y'all take care and be safe. I'll keep you posted on the results our tests.

At least you had a quick result. Some being tested are waiting for days. My best to you both.

Thank you. Yes, my first free test took almost 10 days for results. The paid version has a 36hr turn around. I hope you and Ed are well.

I hope it does not rip through your whole family. They are finding children are more at risk than is thought. Keep me posted. If there is
anyway I can help with meals I will be glad to. I think you have my phone number.

Fortunately, I tested negative and Jennifer's case was mild. The children seem to be quite alright. We "quarantined" away from each other inside the house as much as we could and it appears to have been successful. She answered a slew of questions yesterday on the phone with OCCHD, probably for contact tracing. Thanks again for the offers for help. I know we have a friend close by and that's very comforting.

Carnivorous
I have only met one MyBloggers. It was a harrowing experience.

Aww, hopefully, (someday after the current Apocalypse) we can meet sometime. My children are past the spitting up on people stage. They're even potty-trained.

One of the good things from our big flood in 2013 was we met our neighbors all up and down the canyon, and it's such a thrill to have a quick visit with them when we're out and about. I will miss some of the innovative online outreach things that came from dealing with the lock-down orders. Our local health department and county staff over-work the word 'creative' - whenever I watch some online thing, a zoom meeting or YouTube live meeting, every time someone says it, I take a sip of iced tea and pretend it's wine.

Let's switch back to wine!

I see that I already told you about 'creative.' Back then it was wine, now it's tea.

I hope Jennifer is safe. It was nice seeing you yesterday. Jose cannot tolerate the heat later in the day. One of the benefits of almost isolation is that I have gotten to know more of my neighbors.

She came back positive, so it's 2 weeks of quarantine (groan).
