The prospect of the Vatican organizing its own summit on abuse from among its own leadership is a perfect example of the inmates running the asylum. Whatever your religious stripe, if any, the idea of this organization rectifying its gross failures and then policing the remainder would be laughable, if it didn't affect so many innocent and vulnerable people. To be truly effective and credible, this project needs outside involvement. Otherwise, it just feels like more of the same old posturing and fencing.
Absurdity #2: Through extensive conversations in recent days, Jennifer and I have discovered that both of us are interested in the science behind addiction and its treatment. We're seriously investigating the possibility of continuing our education and pursuing it. This might delay our tiny hope of moving out of this neighborhood into a bigger house, but sacrifices must be made in order to achieve dreams. It's what makes the difference between a visionary and a dreamer.
Absurdity #3: In addition to studying addiction in an effort to finish out my Bachelor's degree begun so many years ago at University of Central Oklahoma, I'm fascinated by the law. I think I am. There's this tiny, little hope inside that after I finish my Bachelor's (which can be whatever one desires it to be without affecting an education in law afterward), I would like to earn a JD in Law. Probably, mostly for the sheer accomplishment of it, but it could be useful in many ways. Mind you, I've given the idea almost a year to wane or meander outside the scope of my chaotic mental radar, but here it is, still orbiting inside my consciousness, tantalizing me with its prospect.
By the way, Eddie, THANK YOU for the beautiful enhancements of the site! I've noticed an increase in traffic and one of my favorite bloggers has started posting here again!
