Economics and Movies

I havent been able to read much yesterday cause I was a little too busy at work. Problem now is that I have to read twice as much today and I just started doing that. Its nice to read a lot of bloggers are talking about the economic crisis at the moment. It shows we all are concerned a bit. Here in Holland its a topic as well off course. No problems are expected here btw, Fortis is rescued by the government and that actually was the only bank with problems here. ABN-AMRO, bought by Fortis last year, will be sold again and, as it looks so far, some parts will be sold to Deutsche Bank in stead of the earlier mentioned ING-group.
Last night I specially stayed awake to watch the VP debate. It was broadcasted here live at 3 am so it was a little late. After 45 minutes I decided to go to bed cause Palin wasnt really answering the questions just talking about the things she learned by heart. She must have learned a lot in the last days btw. For some reason I don't think she tells what she really think but is acting quite well with studied lines and subjects.
This morning when I woke up I heard on the news she did better then expected. Also heard McCain lost Michigan (I cant find that bad btw).

A totally different subject is the "national movie days" here. Tonight the awards "the golden calf" will be given to best movie and so.
On internet users were able to choose the best Dutch movie ever.
Here is the top 5 (which I don't agree completely btw):

1 Zwartboek (black book) with Carice van Houten
2 Simon (don't know if its released in USA, if so you really should see it)
3 Soldaat van Oranje (Soldier of Orange)
4 Alles is liefde (all is love) I once posted the theme song
5 Turk Fruit (Turkish delight) Great Dutch movie which made Rutger Houer and Monique van der Ven famous here.

Reading Soldier of orange also was in the list made me think of the theme sound of that movie. One of the best themes ever I think. I will add the youtube version here.

I think Europeans follow American politics more closely than we do. Glad to read your assessment of Palin's performance matched mine. What I can't understand is how and why so many people thought she did great and praised her. I thought she was pathetic--evasive and inane. Sort of like most McCain Americans!

What a cool idea with the Movie Days!
That is awesome that you got to watch the debates if you wanted to. How has the response over there been?
