A Toy Story Story

Okay, here's the story.

Many of my friends here in CT already
have heard it – some many times over. Now it's time to regale the
rest of you with the tale.

About a month ago, Mary Ellen and I
took our oldest grandchild to Disney World for her tenth birthday.

I had an absolute ball! There is
nothing like experiencing the magic of Disney through the eyes of a
ten year old! It rejuvenates your soul and reminds you of all that is
good and wonderful in this world!

(Plus, the whole experience gave me a
plethora of stories to relate to you in the near future!)

Anyway, Alyssa's all-time favorite
Disney/Pixar movie is Toy Story. She just LOVES Woody The
Cowboy and Buzz Lightyear!

Mary and I had booked three nights and
four days in The Disney All-Star Resort – Movies Hotel, which is
located on the Disney property. The hotel had five or six different
buildings, each with a particular Disney movie as a theme. Just by
pure, dumb luck, we were booked a room in the building with the Toy
Story theme. Alyssa was thrilled beyond belief! The wallpaper in the
room, the bedspreads, even the lampshades were adorned with pictures
of the Toy Story characters.

As Mary was getting us settled into the
room on the first day, I decided to take Alyssa on a stroll around
the grounds to get acclimated. The first place we walked to was a
huge, open courtyard, at one end of which stood a gigantic,
three-story-tall statue of Buzz Lightyear. Alyssa went crazy, and she
insisted that I take her picture standing at the foot of the statue.

After that, we came upon a
three-story-tall statue of Woody The Cowboy! Alyssa was the first to
spy it. She grabbed my arm and squealed, “Look,Grampy!” I spun
around and followed her gaze to the huge cowboy statue.

“Oh Grampy!” she shouted in wonder
and amazement. “That the biggest Woody that I've ever seen!”

I bit
my
cheek in order not
to burst out laughing.

When I
had sufficiently composed myself, she and I just continued our stroll
around the grounds. I almost said something to her like, “Honey,
don't ever tell
anybody that your Grampy showed you a huge Woody!”

I
decided against it.

I think, though,
that I'll bring up the story to her in about ten years.

I admire your cheek biting abilities. I'm not sure I would have been able to hold the laughter in.

It wasn't easy. I thought I was going to explode! When we got back to the room, Alyssa went inside, and I dragged Mary out into the street where I burst out laughing as I related the story to her!
