The Play's the Thing

The play that I wrote, Blessed Event, will be presented by The Windham Theatre Guild at the Burton Leavitt Theater, (779 Main Street, Willimantic, CT  06226), on March 4, 5 and 6.

I have signed a publishing contract for this script with a major script publishing house, JAC Publishing and Promotions,  that will begin promoting the show on a nation-wide basis in April.

The world debut performances for this show will be directed by yours truly.  I have assembled an incredibly talented cast and crew, and we are currently in rehearsals for the premiere.

Many of the readers of this blog have asked to be notified as to when tickets for will become available. Well, consider yourselves notified.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased by call The Windham Theatre Guild box office at (860) 423-2245 or online at www.windhamtheatreguild.org

The Windham Theatre Guild is a non-profit organization.

Ticket prices are:  Adults: $15, Seniors and Students: $12, Children: $8

(All major credit cards are accepted.)

Here is the publicity blurb for the show:

Somebody once said, “Grandchildren are God’s reward to you for not killing your own kids.” Charley Dube, the main character of Blessed Event, would agree wholeheartedly with that statement. Charlie is the eighty-year-old patriarch of a lovable, dysfunctional, French-Canadian family residing in West Hartford, CT. Come and visit with this off-beat family as they spend Charlie’s last day on this earth grappling with life’s issues and reminiscing about the sometimes comical, sometimes touching events that make up a life well-spent. You will walk out of the theater with your heart filled with love, laughter and tears, and you will recognize yourself, your friends and your own family members in the wonderfully human characters. They will live on in your hearts and minds long after the final curtain falls. The show is written and directed by Coventry resident, Jim Hetrick.

Your passes are in the mail.
Whenever I direct a play that I've written, I ALWAYS choose a co-director who is usually female, (to get the feminine perspective). I choose her on her talent, her perceptiveness, and her ability to stand up for her opinions. My co-director in this play is a young woman who has been an actor in several main-stream movies. She is also someone whom I respect, and whom has never had a problem saying what she thinks...nicely.

As official drama critic for www.corinescorner.com do I get a pair of media passes?
I like the writer--not too sure about the director--I am a firm believer that a writer shouldn't direct his own work--he can't/won't see the flaws not that this writer will have any in his play!
BREAK A LEG!!!
