By the way did you know, Jon Adams, Hobbes Daddy is a descendent of John Adams. That's why he named his latest cat Quincy.
John Adams sure hit the nail on the head. Brilliant man!
My brother who is really into genealogy traced my family back to my Irish ancestors who came to the states in 1700's. We always thought my husbands name (CASTO) was a shortened Spanish name but when my brother traced my husbands family he discovered they came from Wales. To make his family more confusing, when his great grandfathers wife died he married her twin sister. The research is fascinating but will take over your life if you are not careful.
I did read Marta's comment with much interest. I also did a lot of reading on line and there is an injection they can give in one's eye but the side effects sound worse than the disease. I take Occuvite which is a "vitamin" that will help deliver more blood to the macular to keep it healthier. Oddly enough, my sister who is three years older than me, and I am 71, does not have the disease. I am the lucky one.
Wow! This is gorgeous; it would make a beautiful wall hanging. I hope that is not considered an insult. I really love it.
OMG, I will take a dozen with a cup of coffee. I wish I had some right now but I don't think they would go very well with my wine.
Hope Holly will like her Beamer......I love my little Z4.
I agree with everything you said about Whitney Houston. She sings "They can't take away my dignity" but drugs certainly did. If one is so close to the Lord, how can you fall so low?
I also have macular degeneration and my mother had it. Mine is in the early stages even though it was discovered about 4 years ago. I 'm still working, can drive and still read which I love to do. The main problem I have now is I require bright lighting when I read or am on the computer. Judi Dench is one of my favorite actresses; I was really sorry to read she has this disease. I agree, Fredo, she is a lovely person.
The white peacock is stunning but I love the pink dolphin.
I just want the frosting; somebody else can have the cupcake.
There is a certain freedom to growing old. I still have responsibilities but they don't weigh me down as much now. The only thing that I don't like about growing old are the aches and pains that I have "earned". Also, if I want to eat my dessert before my meal I do that too. Growing old has some benefits.
This is a beautiful poem. Perfect to give my daughter-in-law who became a Mother for the first time back in August.
Amen to the last one!
My Daddy always said growing old is not for sissys. I am beginning to understand what he meant!
