Question though, about the central theme of this post. It seems that the problem is again, the deregulation of the banking industry. They wanted (profit) to give these loans out, they wanted and did bypass the need for social security numbers, Our government and the FDIC said "OK" with their lax regulations, and so here we are. Although, I do wonder about #5, because they don't really make the distinction here, they just say "hispanic" and not rather any of them were legal or not. But all and all, I am with you on this, they shouldn't give money to the institutions who went so far as to loan them money for homes here.

in regards to the 920 billion Bail out. From what I read on your post, the $75 billion to 3ed world countries that cancels their debt makes me remember the Vulture Fund scandal. If that is the debt they are considering cancelling, to the dismay of more wall-street fat cats, I say so be it. They are exploiting these countries with that debt, and its time to put that to an end.

As far as the rest, the bleeding heart in me wants to do something about global hunger and poverty. Especially since the situation may worsen when the economic effects of our economy's decline are felt globally. As much as we spend and have spent on Wars, useless government agencies like Homeland "in"security and the like, I don't see why we can't do something to help. Bailing out Wall Street fat cats is distasteful in it's own right, as they are not starving to death on a daily basis. And You will find this interesting, but I heard that Paulson had over $500 million dollars in a "blind trust" that was primarily placed on Goldman Sach's (he proposed this "must have" bailout right after Goldman was placed on the "in trouble list")

What are the counter-proposals to this bill to alieviate the poverty problem?

Hey, I just posted some on a similar topic. Great minds think alike. Those businesses were allowed to get too large, and their affect on the economy too great. This sort of thing was why Anti-trust laws were important (republicans will probably say "what is that?") But when one company gets that big, that its failure would be that great to an economy, then it is TOO BIG. And what do they think will happen with entities like Bank of America buying out the others that are in trouble if the same happens to it?

Part of what happened I think is predatory lending patterns, along with this massive deregulation they promoted. Phil Gramm was a big player in this whole mess, and it goes all the way back to laws instated after the great depression. Funny how now McCain is balking about CEO pay all of a sudden while people like Carly Fiorina are at his side...

Crap, sorry dude. I hate dealing the the residents, some hospitals make us call them first, and I just love hearing them ask ME "What do you want me to do" when I call them because their patients are having complications..

You are right, completely right here. I have noticed though, and its strange (though it seems most conservative republicans view the world through the "looking glass" anyway, all backwards), they seem to think this is a Palin/McCain and not McCain/Palin. She is all they seem to want to think about, probably because they know McSame sucks too.
