Star Trek

In the hoopla of moving and unpacking, PD and I decided to take a break to celebrate her B-Day on Monday. Surprisingly, she wanted to see Star Trek. It was a promise she made to me for not giving her shit for cutting her hair short...I kept my end up. I didn't expect her to honor it on her birthday. Anyway...we BOTH loved it. If you are a die hard Trekkie...forget everything you know. I'll leave it at that. J.J. Abrams(the guy who does Lost, Alias, Fringe)wrote, produced, and directed this movie. It takes place during Captain Kirk's beginnings. If you are a fan of J.J. Abrams then expect the unexpected. Take your knowledge of the original series and all six movies with this crew and toss them out the window. The action was awesome. The story was great. The cast meshed well. Simon Pegg(Shaun Of The Dead, Hot Fuzz, Run Fatboy Run)was great as Scotty. Zachary Quinto(Heroes)is a dead ringer for Leonard Nimoy as Spock. Chris Pine who played Kirk was alright. He didn't start the Shat speak until further into the movie. I forgot to mention that Karl Urban who played Bones and Anton Yelchin who played Chekov did spot on performances. Even Zoe Saldana who played Uhura was great. I could go on forever but I don't want to spoil the whole thing. Just go watch it. It's one of those that has to be seen on the big screen.
'nuff said.
