I hear you! I will sometimes make a comment about what a candidate has said or stands for, I may mention a politician's presence or activity, and I may offer an agreeing or disagreeing comment on somebody's blog, but I won't write politically, do extensive commenting as if in a discussion or debate, etc. I have no doubt in my mind that all four of the people in the spotlight right now have our country in their best interest, and want to serve in the way they believe to be right and honorable. I believe all have good qualities, not just negatives that people love to hop on. Obama is not perfect, not invincible, not a god or a miracle worker...but he does possess something that gives me a sense of more hope for more people and things than the sense I get from McCain. I do like the fact that McCain doesn't wish to play "party politics"...that his positions and intentions would be pretty much the same regardless of what party he was representing. I am really surprised that the "die-hard" true Republican conservatives are letting him get away with being the Republican candidate, except I smell a logic in the air that helps the party down the road...it's a way to appease all those who might have gone Democrat with this election and it keeps the Republicans in power...for the next person who might come along for the next election. Even with McCain being more moderate and not a full party player, it will be easier to "work with" McCain, the Republican, than with Obama, the Democrat. Anyway, as a person in the midst, having a candidate or any notable celebrity or character "in the neighborhood" is always exciting and worth mentioning.
The Yogurtland sure sounds yummy and like a lot of fun, but gross-out when people dip their fingers. Ewwww! We have ice cream buffet type places in New England, but the ice cream isn't where people can reach it. All the ice cream is behind the counter, just like in any ice cream shop...you order the size of cup you want for holding the ice cream (size determines how many scoops) and then pick your flavor(s)...the price is according to the size dish you pick. Then, the toppings are all buffet style, so you get to add everything from fruit toppings, syrups, nuts and sprinkles, whipped cream or marshmallow, and even an American flag. In any event, whether yogurt or ice cream, it's yummy and fun.
Wow, this was very interesting. There's a lot about this man, who he was and what he did...plus the fact that he was so helpful to Hughes without them even meeting is so fascinating and almost bizarre.
Used bags of frozen peas as ice packs numerous times and made sure Mom had some on hand for that purpose when she had her knee surgery. They are best for this sort of thing.
She's jam-packed with talent and I can tell that you would put her in the "star" category.
I like Buddy, I can just tell that I do!
There sure was a lot of stuff on this day. Whew! I really enjoyed watching the Olympics and, although I do like to hear and see a little about the country and the people because I like to learn about things like that, it isn't necessary to focus on specific things when it's supposed to be Olympic sport coverage. It was nice to have the Olympics to break up the summer TV viewing doldrums, was't it?
Yummy! I love shoo fly pie...it's naughty for me to eat it, so that's probably why I like it so much!
I love 'em, I love 'em, oh how I love 'em!
Wheeeeeeeeeeee, a day of Wiiiiiiiiiii! And, you call that work?
What a great idea! That would work great with adult groups, too...they can vent out their frustrations by crushing cans, but then calm and compose themselves with a little therapeutic painting and creativity. Hmmm, maybe there's an occupational therapist out there that should read your post!
You are so lucky to be able to teach. I also think you must be a great teacher, so your students are very lucky, also. Maybe I should go see if I can find a nice polished apple for you...my wish for a successful teaching run.
I don't particularly care what the movie was, the fact is that you went out, you went TO the movies (even if you slept through most of it), and you are getting better and better as time goes on! WTG!
I might think that I wouldn't hesitate to give her a try. Maybe this book (and others that you seem to recommend) will be a pleasant surprise to me.
Those kinds of picky complaints come from people that don't have anything better to do, people who want to make a point that newbies "have to pay some dues" because they're not "family" yet, or people who are jealous because either their places aren't being done, their places don't look so good, or they think theirs suddenly won't be the best. To hell with them!
