We got our "First BJ this season".
We went and did that show near Detroit today (Waterford Michigan actually). We got into the show last minute. The fee was $45, it was an 1hr drive. I had to wake at "6am", and I didn't even go to sleep till after "3am" the night before (Still awake now too..lol.. almost 3am after the show). I was tired, cranky.. and so was Roxann. Not to mention "Sebastian", cause he don't normally wake that early.
We got there.. and were showed our spot. The promoters didn't know us. We was close to the end in a "dead" hall. That kinda pissed us off.. but we said nothing. Then some lady was trying to take over our spot. I can't remember what "Roxann said"... but she wasn't really nice. Basically... in a stern way... get back to your area.. lol. First half of the day.. the lady didn't really talk. Till later, she came over asking questions about getting some coins for her "husband" who is a cop in Detroit. After we all got talking, she was very nice. Starting a day at a show, can be stressful for everyone really.
So it was like 2pm.. and I only had 3 sales. The weather was "perfect". Like 70 degrees.. I figured the crappy spot, and the fact everyone was probably in their yards. Enjoying the best day this year so far was the cause. Not to mention the crappy economy.
I told Roxann... damn, everything I heard it was supposed to be a "stormy" weekend (which usually brings customers in). She was like... Dear, we better make something... That check I wrote was "rubber", and I have no money to get it to the bank. Not to mention, we will have no money till Thursday to survive. Yeah, I already knew this. See usually (and this is a known fact).. many vendors write a bad check the day of the show. To make sure we're in. If it bounces (which is so rare, almost never happens) we just pay more later. The promoter doesn't go to the bank till Monday, we deposit Monday. I, and thousands of others do it the same.
Almost immediately... just after 2pm (the show was to go to 4pm) a HUGE storm came up! This was the BJ (Blow Job) we got.. lol!! It came so hard and fast.. it blew the doors open in the school we were in. The "ceiling" tiles were visibly being lifted a foot above where they were. The wind was incredible, I thought we was in a tornado. The rain was so bad.. you couldn't see. The power went out half a dozen times. It lasted like 30-45 minutes.
The good thing about a "BJ" is.. they don't last incredibly long.. But they always leave a smile once done.
For some reason... all the people trapped in that building.. after that situation.. felt they needed to buy something. So there I was,, the next few hours doing constant custom orders. Even got a few nice "tips".. lol. Overall it was NOT a good show. But the fee was covered, and we had enough left to cover anything we would need this week.
So I finished all the orders at the end. I did like half a dozen with the "lights" blinking on and off. I was listening to this vendor as I cut. In the next booth. He has nice stuff, wants a website.. and knows nothing. He was all afraid about getting all ripped off.. or something (Understandable). I offered to help him "free", if he wanted. Just email me. I would make a somewhat simple site (free), and show him how to update himself later. He doesn't feel he can do that. I'm actually very good at stuff like that. I mentioned it.. cause he said he has wanted it forever (even though he just started recently this business).. and everyone was giving him these "huge" prices. I wasn't looking for a thing from him. If he does ever email me, wants help or something.. he will have one of the cheapest and best. Doubt he will ask.. at least I offered.
So finally the "end of the show". Sebastian was wanting to go. We didn't have room for his crib this time. While the weather was nice, we took him outside to play in the courtyard. After the rain.. he was stuck riding in "stroller", or walking down the halls while we held his hand. We tell the kid, this is his "JOB"! He goes to work, to get all these "women" to buy from us... lol. He is cute as a button, and the biggest attraction wherever we go. All the ladies say how cute and good he looks. They also say he "flirts" with them. he does, that trait comes from "Daddy"..
About 3:30pm.. everyone was tearing down their display. Some before that. Well they have students from the school. They are supposed to help.. and have carts. I always had my own cart.. but I forgot that when I lived in "Florida". I haven't made a new one. So,, we waited for the kids to help us. My display cases and boxes are SUPER heavy! Very compact as far as loading, but too heavy to carry more then a few feet.
So we sat there like 1 hour. The kids helping the other 100 crafters or so.. and completely forgetting our aisle. There was other vendors that needed the carts too. Roxann got pissed. I think mostly because Sebastian was getting fussy. and they were "ignoring" our wing.. She went up.. and grabbed some kids (from what they was doing).. made sure they came to our wing.
See.. I am ALWAYS the "calmest". I really am! I may "write" like a big tough guy.., but in reality I am pretty calm in person mostly. It's usually the women that get that PMS thing going...
Come to think of it.. NO, that wasn't my "First" BJ this season. Roxann actually gave one to me just before the show. 2 or 3am the night before if I am not mistaken. I didn't recriporcate now that I think of it. We had sex of course, but "Blow me I blow you" is the general rule. I guess I didn't because I knew I needed as much sleep as possible. I was gonna be working afterall...
I don't know.. maybe that is why she was in a "pissy" mood? That or NOT making much money?? Ya never know with women!!!
Gary :)
