NASA Software -

I found some free software, that I think is "super cool". I haven't been able to figure alot of it yet, so for now consider this a "preview" of it.

The software was made by NASA. The name is "World Wind". Do an internet search and you will find a download link.
Actually, after I wrote that, I found the link for you.. because this is super cool.
https://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/
----------------------------------------
HERE IS THE "SHORT" DESCRIPTION FROM NASA:
World Wind lets you zoom from satellite altitude into any place on Earth. Leveraging Landsat satellite imagery and Shuttle Radar Topography Mission data, World Wind lets you experience Earth terrain in visually rich 3D, just as if you were really there.

Virtually visit any place in the world. Look across the Andes, into the Grand Canyon, over the Alps, or along the African Sahara.
-------------------------------------------

I have been playing with it. Checking the "help" turorials, and just messing around. It does say, you may be able to locate your own "house or car". It does say, some areas must be viewed "black and white", while major cities can be viewed in color. I am not sure the reason right yet.

I haven't even figured how to get to the "black and white" mode, or what really to do with the "multiple layers" it supports. There are a TON of options to the thing. Some things are clear to me.. The program takes a "bit of" dialing in, if you want to view detailed locations you know of. Your "State" and even city are easy. But if you want more.. it will require some adjustments. I consider it like a "Telescope". To get it to see something is easy.. but when you really want to see some details (that it is capable of), you'll spend a little time adjusting.
---------------------------------------------------

Personally, I was able to locate the City we live in and the street we live on within 30 minutes. It was kinda blurry... but I know there are ways to adjust that (that part I don't understand yet). When you zoom in, it even tells you what you are seeing. Like "Flushing High School", "Saint Roberts Church". That impressed me alot. Both are in walking distance from here.
------------------------------------------------------

It's just so "Awesome"!!! Spying on your friends has never been easier. Want to locate all your budies pot plants?.. zoom in close to where they life. Pot smokers are lazy... they never venture far from home. I bet you can find the plants pretty quickly....lol.

---------------------------------------------------------

The possibilities are pretty endless! It's just amazing that I can get this, on my home PC.. basically free. I see alot "Good" to it, and alot "BAD" too. Like a GPS in built into a car, I don't to be "tracked" all the time. I'd rather not have that. What if I wanted to "murder" someone.. I'd have to walk.. lol. (kidding of course). I just think technology is great, but it sucks too.

Check out this FREE program from NASA. It will take some learning, but it is still super cool.

Gary :)
