A Journey Into My Life

Jeremy Lusk Dies

Jeremy Lusk has died.

Jeremy Lusk was 24 years old. He was an "icon" of freestyle motocross. He was an amazing talent. You should check (do a search) videos of him. Most anyone would think that was cool.

Ezra Lusk, I met several times. He was a top Supercross racer for many years. Hell, I had his "signed" poster on my wall for many years. I still have that, however It's in storage somewhere.

I always thought "Jeremy" was the younger brother of "Ezra". I am not sure now.. I been reading the web, some say they aren't related... some say they are but not brothers, and some say they are brothers. I don't know really, but I believe related at least. Come'on.. two guys succeed in motocross/freestyle motocross with the same last name... (A very un-common one).. and not related?

It hits me, mainly because I did the same chit for so many years. Sure, as the bikes got better (suspension, weight, alot), the tricks, and the speed got faster. I can however guarentee "Bob Hannah" (The top motocross guy) of the 70's was doing as much with what he had, that they do now.

I used to do the same. After a ruptured spleen, major neck damage, and more broken bones then I can count.. I kinda gave it up. Not riding, but being "crazy"...

I watched the crash that took "Jeremy's" life. What got me was, it was so similar to my biggie. Looked like (to me), he hit hard on his head.. the neck was snapped back.. and it killed him. Me, I landed upside down. My head hit first, and my neck snapped back. (That caused my major neck injuries). The bike then landed on me (as I was upside down, before ground) and the impact caused major internal injuries.

I could've and probably should've died. But I didn't.. and he did. I feel so bad... I didn't know him. but I know the "drive" that makes people try to od the "impossible". Very SAD day for me!

RIP "Jeremy", you were "Awesome"!!

Gary
