Sorry, I posted alot today. I'm just in a "writing mode"... I just want to say something about "Guns" In America.
Most "Europeans" I have talked to, don't really understand all the "Guns" here, or why MOST Americans support it so much. I'll just try to say what I feel. I talk online to "Europeans" alot. To me, they just don't "get it". My post has alot more to do with "Europeans" then most in "America". Americans know the "issue" whether for or against.
So I'll say what "The right to keep and bear arms" means to me first. It's a right (given in the constitution of the USA). It was always meant (and always will be), a way for people to "protect" themselves from a threat.
In "America" there are "vast" areas of open land. If you go to a place here (that many live).. Like Nevada or something. You will encounter "many" predator animals. You need to protect against it. If you didn't have a "gun", your a walking "victim".
Let's say you and your wife are like "80" years old. You moved yourself to the country (away from people). Predators aren't always animals. An "80 yr old couple", living away from most people are "walking victims". A young "thug" in need of money would consider you an "easy target". If you had no guns, he could easy come in and take what he wanted.
We have "GUN" rights in the USA. The difference is that "here", the "criminal" that wants to "break in or whatever", doesn't know what you have. An "80" year old man, is as strong or stronger then a "21" year old thug. With a "shotgun" in his hands.
Go to "Detroit"! You'll figure this out pretty quick. I'm sorry to say this about my city, but "Detroit" is filled with "thugs" that would shoot you for your "Nike Shoes". All they need is the "opportunity". Just knowing you may have the "ability" to shoot back.. is a "great deterrent". The "criminals" will always have guns. If they know most "regular" citizens have it too.. they think "twice". Law abiding citizens follow the law. If guns became illegal here, many would give them up.
In America, you have "Republicans and Democrats". I am Democrat for the record. Republicans tend to support gun rights more then the Democrats. I know this, yet am still a "Democrat". Democrats are not against "guns" for the most part. Just for "higher restrictions".
On this issue, I tend to be somewhere in the middle. I don't want (every body and their brother) having an "Uzi, or AK47". I've shot both, and to me "Not a good idea" to make those "easy" to get. One "nut" can kill hundreds of people with one of those.
I want "normal" gun rights. I want everyone who isn't a convicted felon or something to have that "right". I support GUN rights, but I support some restrictions too.
