I've been going from dawn until dark and spending most of the day out among the cows. At least, I'm getting lots of exercise and I'm sleeping better at night, too. All of this activity is making my back hurt, but I think it is strengthening my back, too. I've had to do lots of walking, especially while searching for the missing calf.
It is cold tonight. Suppose to get down to 13 degrees. I don't expect anything to calve during the night. During the last check, just before dark, every cow looked pretty relaxed. Just hope it stays that way.
The picture below looks a lot like our Charolais calves, but our mothers are black as they are Brangus. It is just amazing to me that these black cows keep droppin white calves.
