Visit from the Horribles

Our friends who drive up from Loveland every so often bring their corgis, whom they refer to as 'the horribles.'

The dogs like it because they can run around the yard without supervision and they think this is their house and make themselves at home. This means they are running in and out if they see a ground squirrel out back and bark if anyone nears the house then they jump up on the sofa and snuggle with us, then back to the window to look out.

Buddy the Cat gracefully retires to the bedroom when they come - he learned who was in charge when the Horribles visit.

The funniest thing is when they leave and one of them bites the door frame on the way out because he is so excited to get to ride in the car.

I love corgis! I think they are so cute and have such unique little personalities. The Horribles, huh? Yeah, that could fit.

I loved your post, cute story. I hope the cat has assumed it's place as the pet in charge.

Never heard of such a breed. Guess I live a sheltered life.

We have friends that own the "Nasties" which considering the dogs are Rottweillers could be construed as a racial slur, but in this case, it is somehow appropriate. They are of the "Our Dogs would never do that - and of course the dogs promptly do what ever it was that they supposedly didn't" which encompasses everything from pissing on the rugs to lunging at people when they are off lead (the dogs I mean). I always wondered what purpose a corgi served, other than as a door stop and occasionally a foot warmer! I suppose once they pass on, you could take them to a taxidermist and they could transform them into bolster pillows (probably not good to have shedding bolster pillows is it??)

I bit the doorframe when I went to pick up my wife for our first date way back when... I guess you could say I was as excited as a corgi...

They don't look so horrible. Buddy shouldn't have to hide. It's his house.

Cute story! So the Horribles, which seem to be rather fearless, jump up and snuggle with you when strangers approach? How cute is that? And Buddy retreats to the bathroom?
