It snowed since 10 pm last night, and because today's temperature hovered right at 32 degrees, a lot of the snow melted and isn't much on the ground. Down at lower altitudes, the roads are just wet, and there is hardly any accumulation of snow. There ARE some parts of the state that are having a rough time, Interstate 70 in the mountains, for one, but those roads are always dicey when there is any kind of weather. So it's not a big-deal storm so far. Better to worry ahead and prepare than be caught off guard.
Colorado has a new law that requires passenger vehicles to have either snow tires or four-wheel drive when the roads get bad so their cars are less likely to go off the road and cause congestion. There are different rules for semi-trucks: the usual chain law that we've had for years, and at some point the passenger cars also have to have chains. It has helped a lot to keep traffic moving.
It seems like I got a lot done today. For one, a man from the Loveland Fire Department called to tell me they are sending two trucks to my May 7 Wildfire preparedness event. And I worked on the shopping list for food. We are paying $100 for a band, so that cuts into the food budget. I think I'm going to eliminate the potato salad in favor of pasta salad - or vice versa.
