Our Democrat governor Hickenlooper (yes, that's his name) won by a few votes 48.6% vs 46.7%, but the people doing the projections on election night had him the loser, so I was pleased and surprised to hear that he came out ahead.
I've always liked this guy because he was a restauranteur in Denver before he decided to run for mayor many years ago. I don't know his motivations, but he's always struck me as wanting to get things done in a business-like way instead of it all being about getting into a position of political power to line his own pockets and those of his cronies like many politicians I could mention.
For some reason the email on my computer got messed up, and it's not a little thing- messages are disappearing when I open them before I even get a chance to read them. I know it is some nuance of how the email client is set up with regard to whether messages are left on the server or downloaded to my computer, but I've tried everything, and can't fix it. It's scary to think of all the important emails I am not going to receive.
Things are heating up with the river coalition. A new guy joined the steering committee and he's passionate about making the coalition more effective for the landowners. I told him I'd support him any way I can. The three of us women who are small landowners have been afraid to make waves for fear we'd be kicked out of the coalition, but I doubt that would happen to him because he is a very tall man (6 foot 4 at least) with a dynamic personality and a day job at Oracle. Studies have shown that height matters in the business world. He wants me to volunteer to be the chairman of the coalition, and I told him I can try, as long as he's there to back me up. They are hiring a professional coordinator, who will start in April or so, and if I don't like being the chairman, I can take that opportunity to bow out.
