Really Good News

The results are in on the asbestos and lead paint testing on our rental house and it is as good as it can be under the circumstances. Yes, the outside is all asbestos siding that will have to be removed and sent to a special landfill before the house can be torn down, but single-family residences are exempt from strenuous abatement of the lead-based paint that is on the exterior under the asbestos siding. So, big sigh of relief.

It will be expensive to deal with, but not as horrible as it was going to be. The next step is to get bids from contractors.

Woo hoo.

That ugly thing to the left is the single source of heat for a 2000 square foot ranch-style house.

I am wishing you a great contractor for the teardown so you can be in Vegas by Christmas.

Get three bids, be specific on your statement of work and make sure they sign it...watch out for the bidders, this is definitely a shady industry. I've never met a healthy asbestos worker?

The people who lived there must have been hardy souls to have only one source of heat. Let us know if you get any nibbles from TV renovators.
