A Quick Hello

I don't have time or the energy to figure out something to post that requires research or current photographs, but here's a recap of what's going on today.

The poppies are in bloom. This is what they looked like in 2008, and they look the same right now. They don't bloom every year because sometimes it gets hot too fast.

We went to town today and bought a new picnic table to replace the old wooden one at the red cabin. The paint on the old one is all weathered and rough and needs a lot of work. The new one is plastic, so will be easy to maintain, and folds flat for storage in the winter. Here's the old one.

We had to assemble the new table, it's got the seating benches attached, and the instructions were very clear, including telling us which steps required two adults to be completed. It wasn't complicated, but I wouldn't want to try it without good instructions.

Time to cook supper. See you all tomorrow.

You can make anything taste good. It sounds like the dill bread was a gourmet touch.

You made me laugh with your dad's goal centered driving. Ed's like that. He'll stop at a diner, ask me to go in and get the food and then he'll want to eat while driving (which I hate because I always get food on my clothes).

Your old table is a classic. Brings back memories.

It reminds me of cross-country car trips with my family when I was a child, stopping at the roadside pull off spots for a picnic lunch my mother put together out of the cooler. One time my dad didn't want to stop for a lunch break so she had to make the sandwiches in the back seat while he drove. There was lots of 'discussion' about that and they didn't do it again because a vacation is supposed to be relaxing, not some crusade to get to that night's goal city.

Ah... that cabin looks like the next best thing to an RV!

It's a cozy little place, I'm hoping one of these years all the issues will be solved.

Friends stopped by and we ended up having heated Vienna sausage on dill bread after they left. Not very gourmet, but it was all I felt like making. I'll do better tomorrow.
