Here in the foothills of the Rockies we are moving into our monsoon season where it might cloud up every afternoon and rain a little bit. According to today's paper, a 20% chance of storms in the summer means something different from 20% chance in the winter.
Here is how it was explained: "In the winter, a 20% chance means a one-in-five chance, but in summer it means that there will almost certainly be showers, but only about 20% of the area will be hit."
This same guy said that to avoid getting struck by lighting, squat down as close to the ground as you can with your feet close together, or even on only one foot if possible. If you are trying to walk to shelter, take short, quick steps because you make a path from one part of the ground to the other, and the shorter the path, the better.
Our current forecast for the week is 10% chance of rain every day, and I hope we are in the right place to get some of it.
don't mind getting wet, but lightning scares me, so I stayed in.
We are getting rain every day now and it spares me having to
water stuff. Thanks for the tips.
