Interesting Wood

This piece of wood is a section of what used to be a 10-inch diameter log. All of it has rotted away except the core and the knot holes that extend out to the edge of the log, but it's not there any more, except for that one section tied to one knot hole.

This one isn't as exciting, but it's interesting to see how the bigger tree adopted the smaller tree.

These are trees killed by mountain pine beetle and they have the blue pigmentation that is a sign of beetle infestation.

I'm pretty much the same way. You should have heard me the time the chipmunk came into the house and started into the kitchen when I was washing dishes.
