We are still having lovely weather these days. The night time low temperature flirts with 32 degrees, but by noon, it's all warm again. People in town are dressing as if it was July, and everyone is out shopping like it's Christmas season.
I keep reading how we should password protect our flash drives. I keep all my business documents on them, and it was invaluable following the flood because the assisting agencies wanted all kinds of information.
There are various programs that can be downloaded, and of course I looked at a free one first. Big mistake - it took over the 8 gigabyte flash drive and reduced the available space to 700 megabytes. And then it wouldn't reformat back to the proper size. Fortunately, I found a YouTube video that illustrated how to use the Command Prompt to clean the drive completely. It's risky, because if not done correctly, the computer's hard drive could get erased instead of the flash drive. Heart in my mouth, fingers crossed, but it worked.
The other day I dropped my Macbook and the screen broke - half of it looked like a mood ring, and the rest was colored lines. I took it in, and they said it'd cost $300 to fix it, and maybe I'd want to consider a new laptop since that one is going on 8 years old. I decided to go that way. They can transfer the information from the hard drive, but I would probably lose my info that's inside applications, such as emails, photos, and movies of the fox and the goose. So I've decided it's only money, and I'll have them fix the screen so I can get in there and get what I need to. And then, I'll have a new, faster, much lighter computer.
Meanwhile, I've been using my Dell business laptop all the time. Under most circumstances, I would be happy with either a Mac or a PC, but there each of them has unique advantages, depending on what I want to do, so I don't want to have just one of them.
I didn't hear from Jeri for several days, and didn't know if she was still among the living. She has told before me not to mourn her when she goes, because she's had a good life, but of course I will miss her every day for a long time. I have other friends, including all of you, but I can always count on Jeri to take things the way I mean them.
Finally, I called her house, and she's fine. Her computer is in the shop. She talks to Fredo and Mike (actually Mike) every day, and she thought Fredo would let us all know she's having computer troubles, but no, didn't happen.
