Dear Jean and George,
Gary and I have been talking about it and we think we are going to go to Randy and Mary Ann’s surprise 50th anniversary party in March, so please figure out how we can help you to go, too. We can fly to Denver and hook up with you, fly to Pittsburgh (or wherever) and rent a car and drive you there.
Let us know what you think.
Love, Laura
Gary, thanks for the call. I have been working on your mom for some time to get her to go back for Randy's 50th, because I really think we should go. She is very hesitant to commit to anything because she cannot be sure she can take the physical stress, or that she might not feel well, etc. She definitely has slowed down in physical activities, and often does not feel well. She can't walk very far before getting pains and getting tired. But I don't think this caper would be that stressful for her.
I believe I've convinced her to take the chance. I told her we could cancel at the last minute if she felt really bad before we took off. Frontier just added Pittsburgh to its service and has pretty good rates available if purchased by Jan 13. We will check this evening to see if Linda would want to go, and will get back to you by phone or E-Mail.
Hope you three are well,
Your Dad
Dear George,
We booked our tickets on Southwest, arriving in Pittsburgh at 4:40 pm on Friday the 5th. Non stop.
Frontier doesn’t have any non-stops from Denver to Pittsburgh that I can see. Their flight that would get there about the time that we do connects through Milwaukee. With a 3 hour layover.
That time of year a side trip to Milwaukee would not be high on my list of things I’d want to do.
Jean told Gary that money is not the issue, it’s the getting around, so I recommend the non-stop on United. Just close your eyes when the price comes up and think of all the years you didn’t travel, consider that money saved for this time.
We are returning on Monday the 8th, but you could probably get someone from the family to drive you to the airport later in the week if you wanted to stay longer.
Love,
Laura & Gary
Dear Gary,
I tried. But Jean backed out, and will not re-consider. It is the wrong time of year. It's too short a stay. She can't be rushed. Something could happen, etc.
She talked with Linda. Linda had decided to go, but then found out that the Federal C-SAP test are scheduled that Monday and she had to be there - there was no substitute possibility.
They all decided (Jean, Wilma and Linda) to schedule a week or so reunion vacation in the summer (end of July), to include bike riding (for some), Deep Creek, etc. Also, Pat would be able to go then, and maybe Brian. She is also thinking of maybe driving from here. I hope I can talk her out of
that option.
So, thanks for the help from your end. I thought we had a done-deal. But it really is her call - it's her family. So, there!.
Love, Geo.
