We are in a race to finish the new house before the highway closes on October 2nd. The builders have fooled around all summer, working only about 6 hours a week, and now it's down to the wire. If they aren't done by next Monday, they'll have to come here between 6:30 - 8 am and have to stay all day until 4 pm to get out. I've been telling them this for weeks and weeks, but they are barely able to grasp the concept. Well, who in their right mind could understand that we'll be shut into or out of our homes 17 hours a day for the next several months.
One of the problems is we keep failing the building permit inspections. I asked the county guy in charge why they only bring up two issues each time they come to the house - why can't they give us a whole list.
This is with the exterior stain. The wood siding and decking materials will take up the color differently and the various components will slightly change color over the next couple of months.
I found out that during the road closure every driveway accessing the highway will have its own guard shack and flagger because they can't risk one of us sneaking out onto the highway while the big rock trucks are racing up and down, night and day.
It's US Highway 34:
