Jeri and Ted came to visit us. Sunday we went to the monthly auction at Bean & Bean Auctions in Loveland, Colorado. I spent $536 and don't know what Jeri spent, but she bought several things including a cute blue teapot that is a funny little man on one side and an elephant on the other. She bought a rolling cooler and a couple of soft-side coolers that nobody here understands why she wanted them, but at least one of them was all mildewy and stinky and I told her no way is she leaving it at my house or in my trash. I offered that we could take them down to Loveland and put them in the auction place's trash, but she packed them in her car anyway.

One thing Jeri bought was a pair of art deco pottery candlesticks that she doesn't like at all. She was bidding on them because she didn't want someone to only pay $2.50 for them, but it ended up Jeri got them for $5.

I bought a lot of things costing no more than $25 except for one $145 item, an Eastlake dresser with mirror and marble top. (I'll post a photo eventually.) I bought a braided wool rug 8 ft by 11 ft for $20 and it came in handy for getting the dresser home because it was so heavy it just held everything down. There was a deer head mounted by Jonas Brothers in Denver, a long-standing taxidermy company. When I got it home I saw it was from 1937. No wonder it sheds! There was a cute oak desk chair for $20 that was for sale at that same auction house a couple of months ago when we didn't have the truck along. Whoever bought it was selling it again hoping for a better price, but it was five dollars less than the first time. My smaller items included a white candlewick bedspread, some mops and brooms, a big shelf unit for the garage, and a mint condition Madame Alexander doll from 1940. Her face is damaged, but her clothing and hair are in like-new condition.

It was a great auction and we had a really good time. It's the kind of day that makes a person want to go back again.

OHhh, I would very much like to go to one like you just described! Treasure bundles, that's what I would call them!

Here I am trying to unclutter my place and I read about all the stuff you got at the auction! Oh, I love to collect things like that so your post was practically making my mouth drool! Sounds like you not only got some good treasures but that you had a good time, too.

Jeri was thinking she could wash them out with bleach and they would be good as new. Waste not, want not. The auction was a blast!

I went to one auction and realized everything had high starting bids.I never stood so still in my life.I was afraid if I tugged on my ear or scratched my nose,I might end up buying something I couldn't afford.
That was my first and last auction.Laurie

You sure are good at collecting stuff!! I don't have any storage space so I'd have to tape my mouth shut at an auction.

I have never been to an auction. I am deprived? Tell us more about Jeri's coolers. What is she thinking?
