It's a Beautiful Day

Here is a distant relative with his pet red fox that had been rescued from trap, photo was taken in 1938:

My cat caught a mouse this morning, lost it under the coffee table, and I thought she gave up on it, but then it reappeared and she came out of nowhere to grab it. There was a lot of playing, and then it escaped under the dresser in the dining room. I'm going to put out a trap and maybe it'll run in there to escape from her. This will keep her entertained for the rest of the day.

It was free HBO preview weekend on Dish Network, and I have been enjoying the movies I recorded.

The other day all the hummingbirds were gone, but one showed up at the feeder today, so I made sure the feeders at the other houses have some juice in case we get more weary travelers on their way south.

Snow is falling on the Colorado ski areas, but it was a brief flirtation. It was warm here overnight: 48 degrees when I got up at 6 this morning, but a cooler front is going through, and then we'll be mid-70s for the foreseeable future, with no precipitation in sight, and warm overnight temperatures.

This morning my local paper said the local Meals on Wheels program needs our vote to win some grant money. So the link takes me to Facebook. But I can't vote until I 'Accept the App' meaning that in order to vote, I have to agree to have future crap from this outfit and other affiliates appear on my Facebook page and it will send who knows what to my Facebook buddies. Oh, that Facebook. What a Sneaky Pete outfit it is. It's supposed to be about social connections, but it's really just commercialization. Sorry, Meals on Wheels, I'm not playing this game; I'll mail you a check the old-fashioned way.

I'm with you on the whole facebook racket! I don't like to drag everybody into every little interaction.

I'd seen some of that from my friends' pages, but never knew how it worked. Now I know.

I agree with Martin, maybe it's in the fox memo's that your people are nice.

We still have that wild fox coming around when it thinks we're not looking, but it's immune to our charms.

I agree about good works sometimes being surrounded by commercial traps. Recently AARP sent me a Dr. Oz video that said "5 things you need to know to solve (whatever). I clicked on the video -- it went on and on. I clicked out. I E mailed AARP that I didn't want the life story of Dr. Oz or any other sales person they had on their list -- I just, ever, wanted to know what the 5 things were, up front, and wanted them in text and forget the videos please. Haven't heard back.

Love of foxes seems to run in your family. He sure is a cute little critter.

It's always something. AARP must feel pretty good, fueled by all the baby boomer heft.

Maybe your fox is a distant relative of the fox with your distant relative?!?!

That sounds like a scam with Meal on Wheels

Could be fox whispering runs in the DNA.
