He's Back Home

Mr. Troutbend is at home, but not bouncing back like he thought he would. He's not allowing for the fact that he must have been pretty ill to black out, hit his head hard on the floor, and then throw up for 12 hours. And then have hospital tests for a couple of days, and not get much to eat all that time. And then start on antibiotics.

I'm glad I'm not there to see the drooping around. He doesn't get cranky or demanding when he's sick, it's more like a cat or dog that can't tell you what's wrong with them and won't eat. He actually emailed and said he was glad I wasn't there since there's nothing I can do.

Oh, did I tell you what they think caused this episode? Bad chronic sinus infection, and he's on the antibiotics. He's going to miss bowling tomorrow and cancelled a gambling trip with hotel stay, so by his next bowling day on Wednesday, maybe he'll be better.

But like GreatMartin said, now we know he's got a brain and a heart, and everything's been checked out, so maybe he's really healthy aside from the sinus infection.

Re. being sick, Ed is sympathetic, but doesn't know how to nurse. Once I asked my cleaning lady (in New York) to come be with me for a day when I was recovering from a surgery. She was so sweet, she didn't charge me. Ed had a habit of holing up in the den with the door closed and the a/c on and the TV on and I could scream myself hoarse from my bed of pain and no response. However, he did run himself ragged getting me to Moffitt when I had the cancer diagnosis.

What I went through for those days he was in the hospital and I couldn't get in touch with him was like his experience when I was in the flood and couldn't get in touch to let everyone know I was okay.

Well, his recovery sounds like its on its way. He is so unlike Mr. Teal. Ed would want me around 24/7 even if all I did was watch him suffer. What a guy.

He's not all that helpful when I'm sick - he won't cook anything, so if I don't feel up to getting out of my deathbed to make dinner, nobody eats.

I am glad he is home and hopefully they will get that infection knocked
out. Did he have severe headaches with it? Looks like there should have
been symptoms that would have sent him to the doctor before he collapsed.

He had a lot of headaches, but we are used to having them when the weather changes or colds or whatever. After this, maybe he pay more attention when he starts having them a lot.

Glad he is home! Sinus infections are nothing to sniff at. They can be very dangerous when they become chronic. I hope Mr. T. will finish ALL the antibiotics and go in for a follow-up doc check.

I told him to be sure the take all those pills, not stop when he gets to feeling better. I'm pretty sure that he'll do that because he's not the sort to save some back just in case.

To me there sounds like something else is wrong and I would certainly go to a NET for a second opinion before they start throwing all kinds of pills at him!

We'll keep an eye on it. If he hadn't had a CT scan, I'd be wondering about a brain tumor.
