There was a road opening event today, to celebrate the end of the highway construction closure and the dramatic new bridge that takes the highway away from a curve on the river that always washes out in the big floods that we get.
This is Governor John Hickenlooper of Colorado during his speech. He may or may not run for President/Vice President some day. I've always liked him because his main career was as a bar owner in Denver, then he was Mayor of Denver, and then Governor. I've always felt like he was not a politician type of guy, more down-to-earth.

This event was for "dignitaries and stakeholders" and the residents of the canyon weren't invited. Some of us crashed it, but the general lack of acknowledgement of the residents' sacrifice during the 16 months of full highway closure caused a lot of controversy in the community.
