As with all years this year has begun with a huge amount of stress, however the students I got this year are delightful! What a nice group. Am I over crowded, yes, am I overwhelmed yes, but what is new. It is a new school year and all of a sudden, Im back in the flow, getting up at 5:30 a.m. preparing to meet the students and see if I can help some of them get to graduation. I'm excited when I see the seniors who stand on the precipice of their entire lives. I feel for their stress as they try to figure out which college to go to and when to order their announcements and cap and gown. Its exciting for them and I see it in their faces. This is it, the final year of public school the end of what they know and the beginning of what they don't. My job is to help them get across that bridge.
What a great job I have! What a wonderful thing to be able to help young people be successful! No wonder I'm called to be a teacher. Yes, I may be stressed by the normal yearly beginning of the year stress, but you know what, its the kids that count. I've been doing this for 23 years and I never get tired of seeing new faces.
