True Blood

Alan Ball, who brought the series "Six Feet Under" to HBO, has a new series on HBO called "True Blood."   It's about a future where a synthetic blood, called true blood, can be purchased in a six pack like beer. It enables vampires to have a legitimate blood source and come out of the closet, so to speak, and join regular society--albeit at night only.
True Blood is set in the swampiest backwoodsiest Louisiana bayou imaginable. The star is a naive little blond who works in a beer and burger joint, and meets a vampire who has come to live in a falling down ancestral home.
One funny bit was a vampire on a talk show with an evangelist. The vampire was fighting for "Vampire Rights Of America"  (as if it were a cause like gay rights or women's rights etc.)  The preacher refused to speak to the vampire directly, so the hostess had to relay questions to him. Sly humor.
Then there was the grandmotherly type who wanted the vampire to come talk to her historical group, since he had been alive during Civil War times, so they could get an authentic idea of what those times were really like. The vampire says, "Well, the meeting will have to be at night--of course." The grandmother says "I'm sure the girl's won't mind changing our morning meeting to night--at least once."
But there's a lot of violence, gratuitous sex, gore and blood. The little blond star falls for the vampire and takes a walk in the dark with him, wearing the flimsiest shortest barely there little top I've ever seen--(I'm like, honey, where are your pants?)
Anyway, I don't want to get involved with another Alan Ball series. He shafted his loyal viewers of Six Feet Under by truncating and abruptly ending all story lines in one last totally unsatisfactory episode. So, I won't be a watcher of True Blood on a regular basis unless there's nothing else on but re-runs of Deal or No Deal.

What?? Why can't you pick up PBS? Sounds like you have cable.

I couldn't watch 6 feet under. I know it got great reviews, but the setting brought back too many sad memories.

Really? I loved the last episode of Six Feet Under... I still get teary eyed when I hear that Sia Song they played during it.
