The grass is green, littered with leaves from the oak and hickory trees, and they'e still loaded with leaves. I kept hoping we'd have a frost to kill the grass back, but no it hasn't happened yet, so today got Mr. Dave to come run his mower over the yard to mulch up the leaves and cut the grass. It smells like newn mown hay in the sunshine.
Mr. Dave says deer hunting with guns starts tomorrow, and he's an avid hunter. He has a pickup truck painted with camo and a (toy) jumping deer mounted over his license plate. Lots of acorns on the ground this year, but few deer sightings. He says it's too warm for them to come out yet.
A friend brought me a bag packed with mustard greens, and they're simmering on the stove now, just have to make cornbread. An aside: Do you know if you take Coumadin or other blood thinners, greens will interfere with blood clotting, so you're not supposed to eat them if you take those meds.
I've had three invites for T'giving dinner and will go to Valentina's. I'm gonna bring a Walmart cheesecake--Tina forbade me from bringing anything else. She started on the Sugarbuster's diet a week ago--this a bad time of year for a diet. Yep, food is always on my mind, that's my comfort go-to since I don't smoke, drink, have a sex life or take mind altering drugs. (That's bad, ain't it??) You know, one day before I get too old, I'm cut loose and drink Jack Daniel's and take some meth or whatever, smoke like a fiend and get out here and get all the sex I've been missing for so long. One of these days. And folks are gonna say, "That woman done went crazy." Uh Huh, I'm waiting for that day.
On another note, I was talking to a woman in town yesterday and was astonished she is like minded regarding politics and voted for Obama too. It made me feel good to know there is another liberal in our hamlet. It's something you don't talk about here in the Bible Belt, where folks still yearn for GW Bush (gag.)
Hope things are peaceable in your world. Bye y'all, susil
