I have an acquaintance whose father died and she is in the process of clearing out his residence--a man who never threw anything away. She proposes to have a yard sale and sell items like clothing he never wore etc. This is probably what will happen--she will wind up cramming all kinds of things from his house into hers and years from now she'll still be talking yard sale.
A yard sale is a booger to arrange--packing and hauling the stuff to a propitious spot where there's some shade and at a good location for traffic; lots of tables and price tags and ropes strung up to hang clothes on and taking a chance that rain won't come along and mess it up. Then, whatever's left has to be repacked again and hauled either back to the house or somewhere.
Instead of a yard sale, I would call the Salvation Army which will send a truck and pick up all the clothes and whatever and take them off to their store to serve a good purpose. I've done the yard sale thing, and it was a pain in the tush. It sounds like a good idea, but I've learned to be expedient--or lazy if you will.
