Last night I wrote an article about the "Bridge" stories that the kids at Cal State Chico have been writing. Chico is in my state. Chico is very far north. It's north of Sacramento, our capital. Then I read Strider's article about the contaminated meat. I guess I skimmed through it because I missed the part about the meat coming from Chino, CA. Chino is not far north. Chino is within twenty-five miles of where I live! I may have been eating this stuff!! The kids in LAUSD have definitely been eating it. This is terrible! LAUSD says that most of the meat they bought has already been eaten! It's a huge district with a lot of kids on free or reduced fee lunches. The officials say that the kids aren't sick... well, they aren't yet!
Who knew what was going on in our own backyards? It's been going on for some time. No wonder so many of us have been feeling ill now and then. So, as Strider pointed out, it's probably not the flu! I saw some footage on this disaster and it was hard to watch. The poor cows are sick, falling down, in filth, mistreated, and who knows what else? The people who run it have been shipping out bad meat for a long time now. We are spending billions of dollars in a hopeless war and have not the inspectors for the very food we eat? Disgraceful! Especially when it's the food I eat... and my friends eat ... and my kids eat...
I wonder if this is the reason they wanted to zap the meat with some kind of irradiation or something like that -- to get rid of germs. Well, it was worse than that! There was a big fuss when that was discussed. I don't know. If they keep on doing what it takes just to make the most money with no consideration for the consumers... well, I suppose that's what they're all doing. But, it's quite wrong, as are all of "them" and they know it, but don't care. All they care about is how much money they are pocketing -- at our expense. What a world we've created! Money, money, money... the ultimate goal...
Sometimes when you're blogging, you forget about real life. I was wondering why I didn't know about the beef that was right in my backyard and learned about it through a blog. I guess I haven't even been paying attention much to the news with this computer sitting right in front of me... except, of course, the coming elections and primaries and caucuses. What on earth is the deal with the caucuses? It doesn't make sense to me. People vote. If they wanted opinions, they should listen to the commentators or to their friends and neighbors and relatives. They could listen to Rush or to Chris. Does this blog feel as if it's going off on many different tangents? Well, it is. It's something that I can't help. My husband calls it undisciplined. He sometimes calls it nuts. Only his word for nuts is not my word so I'm not going to write it here.
Can you tell that I wrote the last paragraph 14 hours after I wrote the rest of the article? Yes, you can.
