No Respect for Life

In a town called Cocoa, near the Kennedy Space Center, two youths robbed a store, and shot one of the employees in the face. Not happy with just shooting him once, they shot him a second time as he lay on the floor.

This morning on the local Fox News they interviewed the boys grandmother, who said "They needed the money, and he said the gun went off by accident." She went on to say that the grandson "Didn't mean to hurt anyone."

Is it me, or what? When you walk in to rob a store, and are carrying a gun, don't that mean you are ready to "HURT" someone? Grandma kind of brushed it all off, saying it was "A accident>"

Below is the news article, and then a Video of the crime.

A robbery and shooting at a Cumberland Farms convenient store took all of about a minute -- sixty seconds of terror which ends with a clerk shot in the face twice, even though he was doing what he was told to do by the suspects.

Two masked suspects barged into the store, located on Dixon Blvd in Cocoa around 10 p.m. Tuesday night. One whips out a gun and a clerk immediately starts to empty the register. A second clerk assisted about twenty seconds into the robbery. Surveillance video shows the second clerk had his hands in the air when he was shot.

"In the video, it's obvious that even though the clerks are complying," said Barbara Matthews with the Cocoa Police Department . "The suspect still shoots the one guy in the face, he lands on the ground, he's not a threat anymore. The suspect walks away and then comes back and shoots him in the leg. This guy is not a threat. The other clerk is complying and he still gets shot."

The clerk who was shot has been identified as a 29-year-old. Police have not released his name but tell FOX 35 that he is recovering in the hospital. The other clerk was unharmed.

The two robbery suspects, Ronaisha Anquiondre Lanae Leftridge, 20, and Justin Jamar Jones, 16, got away with less than $100 and a couple of packs of gum, according to investigators. Two people believed to be the same suspects were arrested on Wednesday afternoon at the Windover of Cocoa Apartments at 1050 N. Fiske Blvd.

After questioning, both were charged in the robbery and shooting. Jones is charged with: attempted murder; armed robbery; aggravated battery with great bodily injury; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. Leftridge is charged with: attempted murder; armed robbery; and aggravated battery with great bodily injury.
