New Adventures

A while back I told you about our plans after retirement. Well things are progressing well.

We found a home, we both like it and put an offer on it that was accepted.

It is in a small town south of Jacksonville, and north of Daytona. The town is called Palm Coast. Population is about 27,000 give or take a few. Jacksonville was 1.4 million. Now I don't mind people, but, Jacksonville has to be the home of every idiot, pervert, and ex-criminal there is. Every day there is news of shootings, car jacking's, rapes, burglary's you name it. We have been in Jacksonville for almost 17 years now since being transferred from the Chicago area by my employer.

We have a great Realtor, and mortgage guy, and the timing is just perfect for buying the home. Here is what it looks like from the front. (Yes that is my bride of 41 years, Pat.)

There is a sad story behind the home being for sale. A husband and wife bought it brand new in 1998, and lived there untill the death of the husband. The wife died 4 months later. The son is the trustee of the estate and hates to sell it but he lives in Massachusetts.

It is a three bedroom, 2 bath, 2 car garage, Concrete block and stucco. There are many upgrades to the house that made it a real deal. It has a whole house water conditioner,(anyone who has been to Florida knows about the hard water) a well for the irrigation system (water sprinkler system) and the best part, a whole house emergency generator. When the power goes out, the generator automatically kicks in and powers the whole house, including the air conditioning system.

We had our inspection on Thursday, and all they could find wrong with the house was two nails popping out, and a bent screen frame on one window. Now that's not bad!

Our closing date is set for September 14th. I have the insurance quote and have it bound so in case one of the storms heads our way it will be covered at closing.

Talk to everyone later. OH, Jester will love his new back yard too.
