The Beginning of the End of America--11/22/63

It is now the moment when by common consent we pause to
become concious of our national life and to rejoice in it, to
recall what our country has done for us, and to ask ourselves
what we can do for our country in return

I don't think anything affected our generation as much as his assassination. The previous generation had the bombing of Pearl Harbor, and this generation had the twin towers bombing. Even that did not have the emotional impact that Kennedy's death had for me.

I agree with you....I think it was the beginning of the end.

People truly cared about one another and their leaders back then. We have been going downhill every since--both personally and politically.

It was so very sad. I was home sick when I heard it on tv.

I can't help but think what a certain group of people would say if it happened today

They would probably be cheering just as they did over Ted Kennedy's death.

I was in eighth grade algebra class when the news was announced. Horrible! I remember it like it was yesterday. My heart still aches....

Those of us old enough to remember it will never forget exactly where we were when we first heard the news. The day of President Kennedy's funeral was the only time I ever saw my dad cry.
