Great Olympic Moments--the Magnificent 7

The Olympics open Friday in London, so I thought I would use the rest of this week to look back at some of the most memorable moments in Summer Olympics history. There have been so many that I can't possibly get to them all, but the Magnificent Seven winning their gold in Atlanta has to be a personal favorite of mine.

Remember Kerri Strug's brave final vault when she had to land on one foot and needed to stick the landing so the U.S. could win, and Shannon Miller's great performances on uneven bars, the vault, and the beam.

This was the first team gold ever won by the Americans in gymnastics. What a moment and what a memory! Click on "Watch on Youtube" and it will take you to the video.

I watch "select" sports but I'd give my eye teeth to be in London for this!

How we all cherish Shannon Miller. I love the gymnastics.

I'd like to see the opening ceremonies but I doubt I'll watch any of the competitions.

The opening ceremonies are Friday night. Holly and I are Olympics junkies. We like all of it.

This past Saturday NBC did an hour of the best 30 moments in Olympic history--of course Strug was there--they are giving all the attention to Phillips but Spitz and Greganous (I messed up his name) should not be forgotten!!!

No, they should not! The courage of Louganis is definitely an Olympic meory worth replaying as are Phelps and Phipps. Check out my Time Traveler post on Jesse Owens at the 36 Olympics in Germany.
