You Bet I'm a Liberal & Damned Proud of It

YOU BET I AM A LIBERAL, AND DAMNED PROUD OF IT! I was a liberal in the sixties, when it was fashionable, and in the eighties-nineties, when it was not "cool" to be so! And now in the 21st Century when people call me names for it and want to stifle my voice through ridicule. But censorship is for cowards!

I am a person who will tell you what you NEED to know; not what you WANT to hear! Did you know that I have actually voted for Republicans at various times in the past? Did you know there used to be liberal Republicans? Of course, they are now extinct.

Let's see how many can listen to Pete Seeger and friends standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial before a cast of thousands, including President Obama, all singing "This Land Is Your Land", written by that great liberal and fellow Okie, Woody Guthrie, and not be stirred by it.

Now Joan, just because I disagree with you philosophically doesn't necessarily mean I'm uninformed or misinformed. Both sides are guilty of insinuating that when "debating" with the other side. Here on MyBloggers, I resent that every time a conservative is mentioned, he/she is always "uninformed" or "misguided" or "deluded". It doesn't ruin my day! but it does get old and is very condescending. Beautiful video, by the way!

I think there's room in the world for all sorts of viewpoints, although others don't appear to agree.

I think so also. I have always tried to respect that in others. Sadly, it seems so many people these days disrespect that very thing. Sadly, I have to credit much of that to the power of a biased media, which has skewered and deliberately lied to their viewers. When called upon that by people who really study the issues, they hide behind the sobriquet of "being entertainers rather than journalists". Sadly, too many people believe every word these bloviators spew forth and find it necessary to call the rest of us "delusional" when, in fact, they are the very ones being deluded. It is truly frustrating for those of us who really try to get to the bottom of the lies.

You must convert those granddaughters! I gave mine a pep talk this
afternoon and encouraged them to be vocal about their politics. We aren't
too popular in Oklahoma and Texas these days.

Believe me, I am working on it. It truly frustrates me that my son-in-law has exerted his influence over my daughter as well. She knows better and she absolutely will not allow politics to be discussed in her house. I recently had a private long talk with Bailey on the issue of abortion. Her father would probably faint if he knew how she really feels on that matter.

Going to the dogs. My granddaughters are both Republicans, thanks to their father, who is the most uninformed person politically I have ever known.
