Answers to the Future is Now--almost

Oops! I goofed! This was supposed to be on my other blog where I posted this picture and asked if anyone could identify these young royals and what country they represented. Well, now you know! Enjoy the info anyway!

Okay!  Here we go:  (Left to Right)  The first couple is Crown Princess Maxima and Crown Prince Willem Alexander of the Netherlands.

The prince is an airline pilot who regularly flies the jet that transports the royal family around the world.  On 2 February 2002, he married Máxima Zorreguieta Cerruti (born 17 May 1971) at the Beurs van Berlage in Amsterdam. Máxima is an Argentine woman of Spanish and Italian ancestry who prior to their marriage worked as an investment banker in New York City. The marriage triggered significant controversy due to the bride's father's prior role in the Argentinian military dictatorship.

The decision was made that it would be best if her father did not attend their wedding, so her mother, in a show of support for her husband, also did not attend.

The couple now have three little girls, Amalia,  Alexia, and  Ariane.

The second couple on the left is Crown Princess Mette-Marit and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway.  When the engagement between Crown Prince Haakon and Mette Marit was announced, many Norwegians felt that the Crown Prince’s choice of partner was inappropriate.

This was primarily about her being a single mother of an illegitimate son, Marius; but information concerning her involvement in the Rave scene in Oslo, which included a significant drug-subculture, also added to the controversy. In addition, the father of her child was convicted of drug-related offences.

There has been some controversy surrounding the conduct of the press around Marius; in a relatively unusual case of outspokenness, the Crown Princess asked the media to respect her elder son's privacy. He is a private citizen and does not hold any titles.

On 21 January 2004, Mette-Marit gave birth to a daughter, HRH Princess Ingrid Alexandra, who became second-in-line to the Norwegian throne after her father, Crown Prince Haakon.

Mette-Marit gave birth to her third child, Prince Sverre Magnus, on 3 December 2005. He is third in the line to the Norwegian throne after his sister,

The third couple is Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden and her husband, Prince Daniel.  She is the only woman in the world currently set to become queen at the death of her father.

Her father was initially horrified when the crown princess, who is highly educated and speaks several languages, wanted to marry Daniel, her personal fitness trainer, a man with no money and no education who could speak only Swedish.

But the princess was in love and stubborn. Eventually Daniel moved into the palace where a group of tutors worked with him for two years, grooming him in etiquette, languages, and personal deportment to become her husband.

Finally, after eight long years of waiting, the Princess got her Daniel on June 19, 2010, in a lavish state wedding ceremony in Stockholm.  Over 250,000 people lined the streets to watch the couple pass in a horse-drawn carriage.  Another 5 million watched on television throughout Europe.

The princess personally addressed the Swedish people from the balcony of the palace, calling them her "dear friends" and thanking them for giving her her prince.

The couple on the far right is Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark.

The couple met at the Slip Inn, a pub in Sydney, when the Crown Prince was visiting Australia during the 2000 Summer Olympics.

Their official engagement in 2003 and their marriage the following year were the subject of extensive attention from Australian and European news media, which portrayed the marriage as a modern fairytale romance between a prince and a commoner. She was listed among CEOWORLD magazine's Hottest Royal Women.

The princess, who has been compared to Diana, Princess of Wales, and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, is often pictured wearing Danish and international fashion garments.

She has been named one of the world's most fashionable people in Vanity Fair's annual International Best-Dressed List] and has posed and given interviews for magazines including Vogue Australia, German Vogue,Australian Women's Weekly, Parade Magazine and Dansk (Danish Magazine).

The couple have four children, including twins, a boy and a girl, who were born in January of this year.

They are all very attractive. I didn't see any gowns I liked. Don't ask me to keep track of the relationships. They'll do quite well whether I know or not.

Interesting that all these royal matches include a commoner. And all are held in high regard by their countries' people. Many think that those two facts are related, that marrying a commoner enlivens the monarchy for the people. Certainly the monarchy in Scandinavia is alive and well!

Some think this has not been good for the royal houses...that these people have become almost like movie or rock stars, whereas when they married another royal, they tended to remain more aloof. One cannot deny, however, that these royal lines needed some new blood. Everyone of the royals pictured above is related.
