Success

WHEW...well I'm finally coming up for air after a hell of a crazy time!!! As some of you know I've been continuing my Practicum for the Interpreting Education Program at Kapi`olani Community College. Getting my degree to be an ASL Interpreter. Well part of my practicum is to work with real interpreters out in the field. I got to be involved in interpreting a play....Uncle Vanya & Zombies. It's an old Russian play with some modern twists!!! I've put about 45 bhours into this project and was a great success!! Made a few flubs but overall I did great!! Never thought I would enjoy performance Interpreting so much!!!

Yea the play was way weird...funny but weird. A play within a play...very difficult to interpret.

Do you have to spell out 'zombies' or is there a recognized signal for that word?

The interpreters I worked with spelled out Zombies...but a very respected Deaf woman showed me a sign....she put her arms out and scrunched up her face...make sense?

it sounds more interesting than interpreting a public hearing or something really boring!

I am so glad you did well. I never doubted you would, though!

Mahalo my friend. I don't do well in big crowds so I was really worried I would freeze up or something. But I had about 45 hours into the project and knew my material fairly well!
