The Rose

Bette Midler astounds audiences with her electric performance as Rose, a rock-and-roll diva oozing with talent. Her Svengali-like manager, Rudge (Alan Bates), runs her life and forces her to tour constantly -- though alcohol and drugs seem to be Rose's true masters. Only her boyfriend, Dyer (Frederic Forrest), and her music give her any semblance of joy. But is that enough?

4.5 stars. Great music, amazing classic. Love watching Bette in any movie!

Love this movie..got hooked on it when it was on 8-track... stay with me baby.... love it... gonna put on my waitress cap and my fancy high heel shoes gonna find me a real man a true man ..A man to love me for sure....LOL know it by heart..

I've never seen it, either, but remember that beautiful song. It's funny how we never got around to seeing some of the iconic movies when they came out, and we still enjoy them all these years later.

that's why I love Netflix. I get to see all of these new movies, old movies, foreign films, etc.

She was robbed of the Oscar for this--a brilliant performance--loosely based on Janis Joplin's bio.
