Maxed Out

With sobering facts, this thought-provoking documentary unveils the consequences of Americans' collective addiction to plastic debt -- including its contribution to the vanishing of a once-robust middle class. Investigating personal debt, the U.S. government's out-of-control national debt and those who prey on the poor, this film explores the staggering financial burden people live with every day, which has driven some to extreme action.

5 stars. Amazing show. Super glad i am getting myself in order & learning about and embracing Enoughism. Enoughism is the idea that there is a point where consumers possess everything they need, and buying more makes their lives worse rather than better. Like simple living, enoughism emphasizes less spending and more restraint in the buying behaviour of consumers.

I didn't know Enoughism was the name for what I was feeling until I had to write a paper for the Honors Curriculum Program at Kapi`olani Community College. I was talking about my values and I mentioned that I valued the lack of consumerism...but that sounded weird so I started hunting online & found the phrase: Enoughism.

Does that mean you are throwing out your computer? Going to stop ordering Netflix--which is going up in price? Getting rid of your cell phone? Etc., so your life will be better???? Something tells me no and you'll rationalize why not!

HELL NO! LOL Just means I am going to be much more conscious about my purchases. This includes thinking about ethical things too. For instance: I have cut down on purchases from Sam's Club/Wal-Mart . I used to spend about $200-$500 every month or so there. Now I only spend about $50 every month or so. I don't like their ethics or they way they treat their employees. They also don't support America
