The Real Emotion

I wrote this in my creative writing class today. Thought I'd share it.

Anger fills us all at times. Making us go crazy. You don’t see it coming, it just hits you. All at once. Anger is not a single emotion, its comprised of many. It takes sadness, quilt, grief, and others. You take one and a pinch of the other and you put them both into the same body, at the same time and you get something extraordinary. All of a sudden the person you saw before has transformed. They are new.

With new ideas, and thoughts, they think differently and act differently. They become swelled with rage. Destroying the things before them, BUT WHY? Why is it that when we become filled with this new emotion that we go to destruction. Why do we go to the harbors of happiness to burn them down. To watch them crumble. Is it because we know that we are crumbling?

Those other starting emotions are just taking over and forcing us down, that we feel if we can bring someone else to feel that life is coming to an end that we will be saved. That the rope will fall into the well and we will BE SAVED. We go around destroying these inanimate objects, throw them across the world, and then turn to that person. The one we love. We tell them that world is ablaze, and they should run. Run for their minuscule lives. And in this pitiful effort to bring ourselves atop the world, to begin to feel the empowerment of happiness, we create a duplicate of the monster within.

We take ourselves and push into the unwilling person before us, who we love with our hearts till the worlds end, and watch them as they crumble down with us. Falling and falling, waiting for that rope to fall, fall and catch us, because we never grab up. We are helpless though we seem as the one with the power. We are falling and need that rope to help us up and let us see what is out of the well: the world.

The world that although filled with chaos and hate is a world also filled with joy, and the real emotion comes from when you can feel the creation of something new in your life, the completion of your dreams that brings joy to others around – that is when the world is set ablaze with something different – something unknown that brings the feeling we need to survive. And in that moment you reach the top of your life, because now you can crumble. Now you have a height to fall, and now you must hold back the anger. You must brush all that has been stored inside from generations ago and see your path down the road. You must overcome, because that rope doesn’t fall too often.
