My boss has me doing hellish hours at work again. I just finished doing four (4) night shifts in the kitchen and on the floor. I started back again doing night and Saturday shifts. I guess I can't complain too much because the pay's pretty good. The money will help to make ends meet when I leave for college.
Last night at work I experienced the most bizarre thing. I was just finishing up in the kitchen, when I had to put my mop down and help a customer who was clearly a little under the influence of either alcohol or a narcotic. He asked if we had any extra napkins he could use, but demanded that I get them for him because it apparently could be seen as stealing. So I walked to the cabinet where they are kept. I found his request rather strange. He then demanded that I get him a refill of coffee. I mean, come on! It was way after serving time and he knew it but he kept me there to play with, I'm sure of it. He was toying with me and I was getting so pissed off, but I had to keep my cool. He was still a customer of the restaurant, so as I walked back to the table with the pot of coffee in hand, and I noticed that he had been watching me the entire time. The guy creeped me out! I couldn't wait for him to finish eating, pay his bill, and get out. I'm hoping he doesn't show up during my shift tonight.
I was both provisionally and officially accepted into my courses at UW-Milwaukee. The freshman Business courses I signed up for online are: BUS 101 Developing the Business Leader in You, BUS 102 Career Decision-making for Prospective Business Majors, Business Colloquium (which is a non-credit class in which students listen to speakers from different business backgrounds), and an Intro to Accounting Profession seminar - also with numerous guest speakers. These last two are Pass/Fail courses so I don't worry about them too much. Other than that, I'm taking the usual mandatory liberal learning requirement, which is basically taking some science, social science, lit, history, math classes of my choice. A 4 or 5 on an AP exam will get me out of some of these classes so that's why I'm really going to take the time to study for them!
Last week I also received a letter from Financial Aid saying they approved 30% of my funding. I'm a bit disappointed that it wasn't more, but I know I should be grateful for what I was given. The reason they gave was that my father made too much money. They recommended that I keep applying for other student loans and scholarships. It looks like I'll be having a busy next few weeks filling out more applications!
My brother-in-law's 30th Birthday was on Friday. It was fairly uneventful. He did a 5-3 shift at work, drove to our house, and then opened his presents. I am so sure my family is trying to tell him something. He got a planner from my parents. A suitcase from his Mom. A notebook from my sister. A very nice soft leather wallet and a huge bar of Dark Chocolate(his favorite flavor) from me, and a video game that doesn't play on his computer. I told him I'd hold onto the game for him and he could come over anytime to play it.
Also, in the early part of May, my friend Ryan is driving up from Madison and he and I will be spending a few days in Akron, Ohio together. His family is from Akron. This will be his first trip back home in two years since leaving to attend UW-Madison. Ryan and I became online friends a year ago. We met in a teen/young adult gay chat room, so this will be our first chance to meet face-to-face. I'm really excited to spend time with him in person. We always have the most amazing conversations. He's a great guy. I'm sure there will be tons of stories and pictures to share!
