Pardon My Stress

I used to blog on a different site but can't seem to get on it anymore. It's OK. I don't recognize any of the people there anyway. I initially stopped blogging because my life got so crazy. I felt I should be spending whatever leisure time I had dealing with the many pressing issues instead of being on the computer. Lately, though, I've been craving some kind of 'venting system' to help me through some of the challenges that I'm still dealing with.

In the last couple of years so many things have happened. This includes but is not limited to... three moves, FIL passing away, MIL being diagnosed with Dementia, us trying to move her in with us so we could care for her, her deciding she didn't want that, us uprooting ourselves to be closer to where she lives, my second daughter being diagnosed with Schizophrenia, becoming a grandma, finally getting a bit of a handle on my own hoarding issues only to inherit FIL's non-functional house and hoarding mess. Meanwhile, my joints are not doing well and I don't have enough stamina to do what I used to be able to do.

It's not that I'm not grateful. After all, we inherited a house! I'm so glad we don't have to pay the kind of housing costs this area commands. He did leave us some money to take care of things, but we can't even begin to fix anything because you still can't get to many things. I've been digging-in for half a year now and I've still not gotten to the bottom of it.

(This is what the family room looked like when I got here!)

My youngest daughter has been sick a lot and I'm worried that the house might have something to do with it. I finally got most of the junk out of the family room so you can see the rug. Unfortunately you can also see that there are mouse droppings. I'm afraid of vacuuming because I don't want all that stuff to become airborne. I want to pull it up, but am afraid to for the same reason.

The bathrooms are another problem. There is a constant stream of water dribbling from the tub spout. I fiddled with it to try to fix it but to no avail. I had left the shower head off, and have been using it without the head, which didn't bother me. My daughter didn't like it that way so she started using the other shower but didn't have the strength to tighten it sufficiently so apparently it has been dribbling too. A LOT!

The thing is, that bathroom is not ventilated as well so the moisture began accumulating all over the walls. I never use that bathroom so I didn't realize what was happening. I went in there today to measure something and noticed lots of water droplets on the doorframe and ceiling. Yes, there was mold too. I turned it off tightly, then went to put the shower head back on the other bathroom.

Anyway, I thought I had enough to do already. I wiped the ceiling the best I could for now. I've been planning on calling a plumber but even though I've been working almost continuously, the house is still too messy. I hired a lady to come help me but she never showed up. A few people from church have offered to help, and I did let one sweet couple help me but at this point I'm worried about the health of the people who come.

Oh blah.

It was awful! I'm proud to say that this room in the picture has been completely emptied, rug pulled up, fresh paint applied, and new dance mat flooring down. We are in the process of moving our books and furniture into it!
